CDOT’s CO 52 project replaces the pavement, repairs bridges and ditches and upgrades guardrail on about nine miles of the highway between I-25 and US 85, including the South Platte bridge. Work is expected to finish in December 2026, weather permitting; as of October 20 the bridge repairs and lane striping were still under way.

Frederick is in a Stage 1 water shortage: no watering 10 to 6, three days a week
The Town declared a Stage 1 (mild) water shortage for its water customers east of I-25 on May 20, 2026, when the Board of Trustees adopted an updated Water Shortage Contingency Plan. The Town asks for a 10 percent cut in demand: no watering between 10 am and 6 pm and no more than three days a week. It is guidance, not enforcement.
Who
Town of Frederick water customers east of I-25, HOAs included; homes west of I-25 are Left Hand Water District customers, which has its own Stage 1 guidance
What to do
Water before 10 or after 6, at most three days a week, and watch the Town’s water-use page for a change of stage before planning a lawn or landscaping.
A one percent transportation sales tax, 2D, and up to $26 million of road bonds, 2E, are on the November 3 ballot
Frederick voters decide on 2D, a 1.0 percent increase in the Town’s sales and use tax from January 1, 2027 for streets, intersections, paving, sidewalks and regional projects such as Highway 52 (about $3.8 million in its first full year, about $10 a month for the average household), and 2E, which, if 2D passes, lets the Town borrow up to $26 million for street projects.
Who
Everyone who shops in Frederick, and every driver on the Town’s roads
What to do
Return your ballot so it is received by 7 pm on Tuesday, November 3; the 24-hour drop box and vote center at the Carbon Valley Recreation Center, 701 5th St, close then.
